Dead Poet Society is an alluring band with rough, heavy guitars and drums that entice rock fans while paired with the singable choruses of indie and pop music. Once the sound draws you in, the lyrics are easily relatable with topics of personal struggles and development. Across their set, songs from the “Fission” album (2024) were the most played. Fission is an unskippable album personally, but I was so excited to hear “.CoDA.” and “.intoodeep.” off of “-!-” again. Catchy and bold, Dead Poet Society is well worth a listen.
Opening with newest single “Sinner Systems”, lead singer Jack Underkofler puts on display the confident stage presence that keeps you watching. He’s focused, powerful, and obviously enjoying his time on the stage. The group as a whole has such a clean sound live, while every single beat is felt by the crowd, every line sung right back at them. The breakdown in “I hope you hate me.”, the second song in the set, sent chills through me and moved the crowd into action.
