22,000 sold out seats filled with multi-generational fans sang their lungs out along with Mexican rock icons Mana. Mana's Vivir Sin Aire tour made its traditional stop at Greensboro and rocked the stage as hard as ever.
As the stage curtain literally fell and revealed the band to the roaring crowd, frontman Fher Olivera kicked off the show with his familiar vocals, accompanied with long time band members Alex Gonzalez, Sergio Vallin, and Jaun Calleros. The crowd sang along lyrics for lyrics with the band. Mana held out on their classics, only hits such as “Marriposa Traicionera” and “Me Vale” once the crowd was sufficiently warmed up.
Halfway through the show, Mana gave their audience an up-close and personal performance on a raised platform right in the middle of the ground floor. There they crooned acoustic covers Mexican favorites, such a passionate performance of “El Rey” by Mariachi legend Vicente Fernandez. Mana returned to the main stage to finish out the show with “Rayando El Sol”, which had the entire arena echoing the words to the final note. And that was the end, or so you might have thought.
Mana returned to the stage after a plead of encores from the persistent crowds and only then capped off the show with their hit “Oye Me Amor”, a song that every fan, young and old, knew by heart. For a band well over 30 years old, the group has no signs of slowing down. From the tejana and cowboy boots wearing older generation to the black-fitted and free-spirited younger generation of fans, Mana will always transcend time and will be welcomed back with screams of adoration and applause wherever they tour.
