Going into a concert blind can either be a hit or miss. Sometimes you stand there waiting for the headliner, barely paying attention to the openers. Other times, a band walks on stage and completely steals your attention before you even know what happened. That’s exactly what Polaris did for me and a huge part of the crowd at the Greensboro Complex.
The second Polaris hit the stage and opened with “Dissipate,” the energy in the room instantly shifted. Frontman Jamie Hails came out headbanging like his life depended on it, and I genuinely still don’t understand how his head is attached after that set.
The intensity never let up for a second. Between the crushing breakdowns, emotional melodies, and nonstop movement on stage, Polaris had the entire venue locked in from start to finish.
That’s the beauty of live music. You walk in unfamiliar and leave wondering how you ever slept on a band in the first place.
