The Crystal Method delivered one of the best DJ sets I've ever witnessed at the 9:30 Club. Scott Kirkland turned up the heat with songs from their legendary debut album, Vegas, including "Trip Like I Do," "High Roller," "Comin' Back," and "Keep Hope Alive."
Then he took things to another level, seamlessly mixing in Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like a Hole," sending the crowd into a dance frenzy. But somehow, that wasn't even the highlight of the night. Without warning, Scott dropped The Prodigy's "Breathe," and the entire venue erupted. Even I couldn't hold back my excitement and started dancing.
What stood out most, though, wasn't the music. Scott invited a young fan onto the stage, showing her the turntables. The look of awe in her eyes was unforgettable. It instantly took me back to being 10 years old, hearing Vegas for the very first time and discovering a style of music unlike anything I'd ever experienced that will forever stay with me.
The night closed with "Busy Child," and in a moment I'll never forget, Scott waved me up to the turntables so I could capture one final photo of him and the crowd inside the 9:30 Club.
So far, this has been my favorite show of the year. It's a night that will be forever burned into my memory.
